2007 continues the exciting vision put forth last year by the release of HOW 'BOUT NOW. The CD was selected "Top 10 of 2006" by All About Jazz' Dan McClenaghan. The latest CD, IN THE GROTTO has just been released. The quintet remains the same except for reedman John Gunther replacing Mark Harris. John's artistry is evident throughout the recording and he adds a distiinctive solo voice to the proceedings. Check the new CD out here or at cdbaby.com.

Fred's composition Journey To Sentosa (Faith, Cadence Jazz 1112) was the winning piece at the 2006 First Annual Jazz Composers Symposium, held at the University Of Southern Florida at Tampa (March 7-9). The judges were Bob Brookmeyer, Dave Douglas, and John Clayton. The Fred Hess Band performed at the Soundscape Festival held at Abuquerque's Outpost in May 2006.

Also, the band performed to an enthusiastic audience, Friday Jan. 12, 2007, at the 34th IAJE International Conference held in New York City, and will be appearing May 19, at the Penofin Jazz Festival held in Ukiah, CA..
