The result is an HBO anthology movie wrapping together 11 short films, produced by Ms. Perez, Jonathan Demme and Edward Saxon for HBO NYC productions ... ... They range from poignant (a man trying to stop a pregnant woman from jumping in front of a train) to comic (the performance artist and mime Bill Irwin enacting a series of subway misadventures) ... ... The writers of "Subway Stories," due in early 1997, include the playwrights John Guare, Albert Innaurato, and Craig Lucas; among the directors are Mr. Demme, Bob Balaban and Abel Ferrara ...
