BCME PHOTO ARCHIVES: THE MIDDLE YEARS

THE BOULDER CREATIVE MUSIC ENSEMBLE

Actively incorporated other disciplines into its aesthetic. Some examples are Storytelling, Calligraphy, Mime, Japanese Flower Arranging, and Dance. In 1986, improvisational dance was included for a production staged at the Changing Scene in Denver, CO.

AT THE BCVA, we produced composer Tom Johnson's Self Portrait, a theatrical piece which used boxes as props.

IN 1988, the BCME performed at the DCPA's Stage West. Between The Lines was recorded at this time (with assistance form the Colorado Council for the Arts). DENVER'S GALLERY BWANA become our performance venue in the late 1980's. We're rehearsing before the show. Notice the unusual seating plan! GLENN Nitta, Ron Miles, and myself appear here as the OUTERVIEW TRIO.

THE BCME appeared infrequently between 1992-97. However, its members kept performing together in various configurations. Here's the marquee for a 1995 Fred Hess CD release concert.
