Part 3
December 2nd, 1996: - Today was kind of a breakthrough. I
went to the gym and before I went into the pool I took the tape off.
To my surprise my new (small) foreskin stayed in place the whole time
from the pool, to the shower, to the steam room, and even home. Cool!
This happens mostly when I'm cold. There is still no coverage at room
temperature though.
December 4, 1996: - This new foreskin is making me feel
strange because I need to learn how to pee again (when I'm not wearing
the tape). I feel like I'm 5 years old all over again. It's just that
I'm having difficulty aiming. I asked an intact friend what the trick
is. He said that he has to make sure that he pulls the skin all the
way forward to be able to aim well. And he has a lot of skin. Well, I
don't really have that much skin yet but his method seems to work
pretty well for me anyway. So I'm satisfied.
December 8, 1996: - I've put up a new page on anatomy. I've found that a lot
of guys were asking for pictures of how the foreskin works on an intact
penis. Derrick Townsend has
a lot of good pictures and diagrams on his anatomy page but
guys kept asking for pictures of exactly how the whole thing
works. Hopefully this will be it.
Fourteen months of restoration - January 12, 1997: -
Over the past two months I've been much
more diligent at keeping the tape on so now noticeable progress in skin
growth has started again. The one thing that has been surprising is
that I've had a real improvement in sensitivity in the past few months.
Each time the sensitivity increases, I think that it couldn't get any
better. I'm happy to say that each time I've been proven wrong.

January 23, 1997: - Am I finished? Some people think that
I've gained so much new skin that I must be finished now. I'm not. I
can understand why people might have this perception. To people who
are only familiar with circumcised penises it might seem like I've
gained a lot of new skin. But to people who are familiar with the
intact penises it doesn't seem like it's so much. I still have a long
way to go. Many guys with foreskins have this much coverage while the
penis is erect. I'm a long way from that kind of progress. See
what I mean in my foreskin anatomy page.
February 23, 1997: - I am again discouraged. Whenever
I make progress, and the progress has been very good, I also realize
just how much more there is to go. Right now I have barely enough skin
for coverage when flaccid. I should get to that goal within two
months. My final goal is to have full coverage while erect, the amount
of skin that I would have had if I were intact. But that's a lot of
skin. I will need to grow at least six inches more skin to have full
coverage when erect. Even though I know it's possible, right now I can
hardly imagine growing that much skin.
March 1, 1997: - I have a better outlook right now. I've
decided that one of my problems is that I have much more skin growing
on the bottom of the penis, but less on the top. It may be obvious
from the pictures, but it wasn't to me. I've started taping
differently. I used to wear the elastic around my waist. I've started
wearing the elastic down my leg. This position pulls much more on the
top of the foreskin. Even after a few days of this, I've seen real
improvement. We'll see what happens.
Sixteen months of restoration - March 16, 1997: -
Another breakthrough happened today. I have
never had coverage at room temperature. I've only had coverage after a
hot shower or after being cold from outside or from a pool. But today
I got out of the shower with coverage and the skin pulled back a bit
but it still covered the head about half way.
This breakthrough may have happened because of the change in taping
technique. I've made sure that there has been more tension on the top
skin, where I need the most growth, than on the bottom where I have
plenty. The change seems to have paid off in only two weeks.

March 31, 1997: - I've gotten to that very special point
others have told me about, the point where every little bit of progress
is very noticeable. I now have just enough skin to be partially covered
while flaccid at room temperature. All the time before this, I've been
growing skin and it's just been bunching up behind the head. The whole
time it was very discouraging to be growing new skin but not having any
visible progress. The new skin kept building up, pushing against the
head, but at room temperature not actually rolling over. Now that the
skin has pushed over the head, every new bit of growth causes more
obvious coverage.
I've abandoned wearing the elastic down my pants after only a month,
even though it seemed to help grow a lot of new skin on top of the
penis. It's too warm here to wear pants this time of year and I almost
always wear shorts anyway, so I'm going back to wearing the elastic
around the waist.
Eighteen months of restoration - May 27, 1997: -
I've started wearing the elastic down my pants
again because I seemed to get a lot of progress that way. It's not
that this position is superior to any other, it just seems that the
change is doing good. This position seems to pull more on the skin on
the top of the penis. Again a lot of new skin is growing on the top of
the penis.

May 28, 1997: - Some of you may have been wondering where I've
been. I haven't updated my web page in quite some time and I've been
letting my email back up. Well, my life has become a bit complicated.
Anyway, I've taken a break from restoring, partly because I've become
lazy from the summer, but also because I just want to enjoy what I've
gained. My last day of restoration was May 27, the day that I took the
last pictures. I still don't consider myself finished. I still want a
bit more skin for better coverage. I plan to start up again in the
fall.
* * * Break for the summer * * *
August 17, 1997: - I've started again after my summer break.
It felt really good to take the time off and enjoy the progress that
I've had. But over the summer I've realized that it's not enough. I'm
going back to restoring again. As I had been told to expect, I lost
some of the progress during the break. I'm not sure how much. Some
said to expect a 30% loss. That's in the ballpark. I estimated that I
lost 20%-30% or so. It's hard to tell.
August 20, 1997: - Starting again has been difficult. It
seems like I've forgotten how to put on the tape. I'm getting the hang
of it again. Even more than that, the skin seems much more fragile now
that it's not accustomed to being taped up. I've caused a bruise from
having a wrinkle of skin under the tape. I've also caused a small tear
while removing the tape. I'm going to stop for a couple of days for
them to heal.
August 27, 1997: - Applying the tape is again routine.
I've been able to avoid any skin damage by carefully applying and
removing the tape. I see a lot of progress in just a few days. We'll
see if it continues. Maybe it's just the restretching of 20%-30%
progress that I lost during the summer.
I've been impressed by the progress shown by Marc Marchioli on his web page. He seems to
have 3 to 4 times the progress of most people his age. Many guys in
their teens or early 20s report that kind of progress, but Marc is 39
years old. I wonder why his progress is so fast. It might have
something to do with the fact that Marc has a very high protein diet
and takes many growth and weight training
supplements, some specifically meant to grow hair, skin, and nails.
I'm always one to experiment so I'm going to try this kind of thing to
see if it makes a difference. It will be a big change from my current
diet which is low protein/fat and high in carbohydrates. Anyway, it
would be nice if there were a way to
speed up the skin growth progress.
September 22, 1997: - I've finally gotten used to wearing the tape every day again. It's been hard to start up again and keep it up continually. I've skipped several days because of laziness. I hope it doesn't affect the results too much.
October 8, 1997: - I am seeing a lot of progress. I don't know if it's my imagination or not but I'm very encouraged. Usually I'm pessimistic. Usually I underestimate the amount of progress that will appear in the photos. We'll see. The next pictures will be in about a week.
Twenty months of restoration - October 11, 1997: - Well, the pictures are a bit surprising to me this time. I expected to see a huge amount of progress but it's not evident in the pictures. I feel a huge amount of progress because now I have consistent coverage, something I've never had before. The skin never pulls back on its own anymore. There is a huge amount of wrinkled skin now that wasn't there before. I'm going to remain on the diet that I described on August 27th. I'm still not convinced whether it's working or not.

October 18, 1997: - I've decided to change the pictures that I post. See the set of pictures above for an explanation.
October 29, 1997: - Everything is going well. It's really been uneventful.
I've had some trouble with the skin under the tape getting dry and a bit flaky. Does this mean that I'm growing skin faster or just that I'm using too much tension? I don't know. I've started using vitamin e oil to help with the problem. It's been working. The biggest problem with the oil is that oil dissolves the adhesive on the tape. To avoid this, I've been moistening the skin, drying it, applying the vitamin e oil, then using tissue paper to remove the excess. The tissue paper doesn't remove so much of the oil that it doesn't work but it removes enough of the oil so that it doesn't dissolve the adhesive.
October 30, 1997: - A nice thing happened today. Actually, it's kind of a breakthrough. I just noticed that I have skin pushing up against the head when I'm hard. Wow, that's kind of nice. I've never had that before.
November 9, 1997: - I've been having trouble again keeping up my goal of restoring 23 hours per day. It's not that I have trouble with the amount of time, it's just that whenever I get an excuse to not wear the tape, I seem to take advantage of it. I'm so comfortable right now because of the full coverage that I hate to put the tape back on.
December 1, 1997: - Again, I've been having slacking off. I took a few days off from restoration. I hope that it won't affect my progress too much.
Twenty two months of restoration - December 15, 1997: - As always, I've been surprised by the progress that shows up in the pictures. The change happens so slowly that I don't notice it until I take these pictures.
View the Pictures with captions.
December 26, 1997: - There's not a whole lot new to report. I just keep going, slowly but surely. I've been slacking off during the holidays. As soon as they're over I'll get back on track.
January 8, 1998: - Things are getting a bit more difficult right now. I've been a bit too enthusiastic and that's caused me to bruise the skin a bit. I've had to keep the tape off for a few days for the skin to heal.
January 15, 1998: - I did it again. I bruised the skin again and again I've had to keep the tape off for a few days for the skin to heal. I've got to be more careful.
January 26, 1998: - Well, I'm back on track. Still I've wasted almost three weeks between slacking off during the holidays and having to keep the tape off. Oh well.
Twenty four months of restoration - February 16, 1998: - Well, there is continued progress. The skin is longer even if it's difficult to see. I didn't expect much because of all of the time that I wasted lately, but there is some progress.
