Obituary in the Daily Pantagraph
NORMAL - Anthony "Tony" Parker, 46, Crown Point, Ind., formerly of Normal, passed away Monday (Oct. 19, 2009).
His funeral will be private with cremation at the Burns Funeral Home Crematory, Crown Point, Ind., 219-769-0044.
Tony graduated from University High School in Normal. He attended Butler University and was a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in journalism. He was formerly employed by The Pantagraph in Bloomington, and most recently for the Times of Northwest Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Mitchell Parker.
He is survived by his mother, Kay Parker, Normal.

Tony Parker was strong and brave. He stuck up for his friends, even when we didn't deserve it. Tony combined peacefulness and intensity in a unique way. That could be heard in his radio speaking performances, and seen in times of crisis. One day, Tony was helping put away a ping-pong table at my house and the table collapsed on his finger. It caused a compound fracture, which freaked me out. Tony remained calm even while I drove like crazy to the hospital. Tony was like that. — Jim Carmichael
